History

Guilded was initially released in 2017, but came out of beta in 2020[1]. It was created as a personal project by Eli Brown, a former Xbox and Facebook employee. It first appeared on r/wow subreddit as a communication tool for World of Warcraft players. In 2021, it was announced on platform's blog that Guilded is joining Roblox, but as an independent platform. In July 2024, however, a requirement was set that all accounts must be connected to Roblox. This caused a lot of backlash, including the shutdown of ReGuilded, the Guilded modification project. On October 9, 2025, it was announced that Guilded is shutting down on December 19[2][3]. Not long after, an export tool[4] was published for users to preserve their servers.
